KOTA KINABALU: The launch of ‘The V by Jesselton’ marks a bold step toward a more vibrant, attractive and globally connected Sabah — one that complements the State Government’s Sabah My Second Home (SM2H) initiative, said Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
Liew said the project’s alignment with SM2H underscores its potential to draw both domestic and foreign investors, as well as long-stay visitors seeking quality lifestyle opportunities in Kota Kinabalu.
“We believe this project will attract not only local interest but also international investors and long-term residents looking for high-quality living spaces in a serene yet strategic location,” said Liew, who also chairs the State SM2H Committee.
She said developments like ‘The V’ embody the state’s broader vision of community-building and inclusive growth.
“We are not merely building structures — we are building communities, creating opportunities and enhancing Sabah’s appeal as a world-class destination,” she emphasised.
Speaking at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens here today, Liew described ‘The V by Jesselton’ as an ambitious, integrated waterfront development that will redefine Kota Kinabalu’s urban and tourism landscape.
Comprising three blocks of commercial short-stay condominiums, a corporate office tower and a new retail experience fronting the scenic Likas Bay, the project is poised to become a key destination for both locals and international visitors.
Liew congratulated Jesselton International Group for its vision and confidence in Sabah’s future.
“Your contribution plays a crucial role in supporting our tourism aspirations and driving economic growth. To all stakeholders involved, thank you for your dedication to Sabah’s progress. We look forward to the successful completion of this landmark project, which will undoubtedly stand as a symbol of modern Sabah hospitality and development,” she said.
She added that Sabah continues to strengthen its position as a preferred international destination, supported by direct air connectivity from China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Peninsular Malaysia.
“This connectivity — combined with our natural beauty, cultural diversity and expanding infrastructure — creates immense potential to attract long-term visitors and new residents,” she said.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam officiated at the ceremony.
Also present was Jesselton International Executive Chairman Tan Sri David Chu.
