KOTA KINABALU: Pertubuhan Muafakat Titipan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (Mutiara GRS) remains committed to supporting non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and their programmes, particularly those focused on advancing women’s entrepreneurship.
Its Vice Chairwoman Datin Seri Linda Ewit highlighted the diverse programmes in Sabah, especially in Kota Kinabalu, which have not only helped women showcase their talents but also brought their marketable products to a wider audience.
“Supporting these organisations encourages society, especially aspiring women entrepreneurs, to contribute to their local economies,” she said.
Linda expressed Mutiara GRS’s readiness to continue collaborating with NGOs to uplift women’s economic status.
“We’re eager to collaborate, as we have been doing, to strengthen women’s economic roles and provide assistance wherever possible. Together, we can create more platforms where women can market their products and develop the skills needed to succeed as entrepreneurs,” she said at the launch of the Pearlempower: Grow & Glow Market 3.0 at Wisma Merdeka here today.
Representing the Chairwoman of Mutiara GRS, Datin Seri Juliah Salag, Linda attended the event alongside notable guests including Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl (RCKK Pearl) President Chenderamata Sinteh, RCKK Pearl Immediate Past President Rosie Chong, former President Datuk Aminah Ambrose, and Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Sutera President Dr. Richard Albert Gontusan.
She commended the ongoing efforts of RCKK Pearl in organising events like this, which provide a platform for women to showcase their products and expand their networks.
“These initiatives empower women and youth by helping them connect with businesses, broaden their marketing reach, and build a client base,” she noted.
Linda emphasised the importance of providing such opportunities, which not only allow participants to display their products but also build economic independence and create sustainable income.
“We hope they continue to expand their reach, eventually taking their products beyond domestic borders,” she said.
RCKK Pearl President Chenderamata stressed that the event aligns with Rotary’s seven areas of focus, particularly in promoting local economies and fostering economic development.
“This platform enables women from disadvantaged communities to develop sustainable livelihoods and emerge as community leaders,” she said.
“Empowering women and girls is central to sustainable development, and when women succeed, communities flourish,” Chenderamata added, referencing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.
“Initiatives like this market go beyond business growth—they support women’s economic empowerment, which is closely tied to stronger families, healthier communities, and lasting prosperity,” she said.
