TONGOD: Tongod township is getting a facelift with the development of an RM7 million commercial area.
The project to build two rows of 12-unit multi-storey shops is carried out by the Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB).
LPPB Chairman Datuk Masiung Banah said the project will start with its first phase of development involving six shop units at a cost of RM3.5 million.

“The first phase of the development on a 1.17-acre land will take 18 months to complete. After it is completed, we will proceed with the second phase,” he said during his visit to the site yesterday.
Masiung, who is also Kuamut Assemblyman, said that two units of the two-storey shop will be proposed for hotel accommodation, while the remaining units are used for commercial businesses including a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) outlet.
He said the two-storey commercial building will be sold for between RM565,000 and RM619,000 for the corner unit.
