KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said the State Government will continue to support the needs of police personnel, who are key strategic partners in the state’s security and development.
“State security forms the foundation for stable development, the well-being of the people, and investor confidence,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that within the framework of Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ 2.0), security is a key enabler of the state’s economic growth and central to efforts to enhance the welfare of its citizens.
“Indeed, without stability, the implementation of SMJ 2.0 development initiatives would certainly be affected,” he said during the launch of the Sabah Police Gallery at Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) in Kepayan here today.
The Chief Minister also praised the initiative to convert an old building within the IPK area into the Sabah Police Gallery.
“It is not merely a venue for exhibitions, but a living archive preserving the history, struggles, and commitment of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Sabah.
“This gallery also bears witness to the sacrifices, dedication, and efforts of police personnel in maintaining national peace. It serves as a platform to honour the invaluable contributions of all PDRM members, both serving and retired,” he said.
Among the main exhibits is the 2013 Tanduo, Lahad Datu incident, which remains a vivid memory and historical chapter for the people of the state.
“Therefore, I regard the establishment of this gallery as highly significant and timely, serving as a platform to ensure the sacrifices of our national heroes remain etched in memory, as their contributions form a key defence of the nation’s sovereignty,” he said.
In addition, the gallery will serve as an educational centre, providing a historical reference for younger generations to appreciate the value of the peace enjoyed today, he added.
“It educates the youth and reminds us all of the meaning of safety, security, and the high level of discipline upheld by the police force,” he said.
On the occasion of the 219th Police Commemoration Day, the Chief Minister urged all PDRM personnel to continue enhancing their dedication and commitment to serving with full devotion for the security, well-being, and peace of the nation.
“To maintain high integrity within the service, I hope all police personnel will continue to serve with discipline and unwavering integrity.
“Let the exhibits in this gallery inspire you to uphold the honour of the force,” he said.
