KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor welcomed Shell Malaysia’s initiatives to boost local participation in the state’s oil and gas industry, aimed at expanding economic opportunities for Sabahans.
He said, last year the State Government has set a 100 per cent target to increase the value of Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) contracts awarded to local companies.
“This target underscores the state’s firm commitment to strengthening local involvement and fostering a resilient, homegrown energy ecosystem,” he added.
The Chief Minister said this during a courtesy visit by Shell Malaysia’s Country Chair and Senior Vice President of Upstream Malaysia, Siti Sulaiman at Menara Kinabalu, here today.
During the meeting, Siti gave a business update on Shell’s ongoing activities and projects in Sabah including the company’s efforts to nurture local entrepreneurship through its Shell LiveWIRE programme.
Accompanying Siti were Alexon Jong, General Manager of Sabah Shell; Jonathan Jolly, General Manager, Corporate Relations East Malaysia, Shell Malaysia; and Liz Kumar, Corporate Relations Advisor – East Malaysia, Shell Malaysia.
