He said the club have yet to decide on the venue for the tournament but is looking at two proposed golf courses namely at Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai and Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club.
He said KPGCC will offer various attractive prizes including prizes for ‘hole-in-one’ shots.
Meanwhile, the former State Deputy Chief Minister said the proposal to develop the first golf course in Kuala Penyu has received the support of the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry (KePKAS) as an amateur and overseas golf tourism industry.
“We have just received the government approval for the proposed 107-acre golf course at Bukit Nuri near Menumbok and it will be developed within five years. The location is quite ideal as it is located on the coast facing Labuan Island.
“Our initial target now is to first build a golf clubhouse and driving range,” he said, adding so far, two local investors have expressed interest in developing the 18-hole golf course.
The golf course will be developed next to the 5-star Club Med hotel which is currently under construction.
Kuala Penyu will boast as another important golf tourism destination in the region when the golf course is completed and opened.
