KOTA KINABALU: Preparations are underway for the 2025 State-level Malaysia Day Celebration in Sabah to be held at Padang Merdeka on September 16.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew, who is also Chairman of the State-level Malaysia Day Celebration Main Committee, presided over the final meeting yesterday, where she received reports on the progress of preparations from the Secretary Datuk Josie Lai, who is also the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
Heads of 14 sub-committees entrusted with their respective responsibilities also presented reports.
Head of State Tun Musa Aman and his wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin will grace the occasion.
Apart from an entertainment programme, Liew said a lucky draw for the general public will be held, too, with attractive prizes for the winners. These include smart phones, a TV set, electrical appliances, bicycles, hotel stay and buffet vouchers.
“There will also be free Milo drinks, ice-cream and balloons for children, sponsored by generous companies,” she added.
Among those present were the Ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary II Datin Dr Cleopatra Asing, Sabah Cultural Board General Manager Mackey Apison, Sri Pelancongan Sabah CEO Thonny Chee, ACP Sabarudin and DSP Lee Nyuk Kim from Sabah Contingent Police, Government Printer Liew Chern Wei, Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) Director (Corporate Affairs) Rosie Inus Molukun, Information Department’s Media and Corporate Communications Head Dr Diana Dominic and RTM Sabah Principal Assistant Director Aris Arapa (TV Programme).
