KOTA KINABALU: A cake picnic organised by the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (Swepa) brought members, families and friends together in a unique celebration of friendship and camaraderie.
The first-of-its-kind gathering was mooted by Swepa life member Audrey Koh as an initiative to strengthen bonds and foster closer relationships among members.
With the support of President Betty Epin and member Josephine Liew, who hosted the event, Koh organised the cake picnic under the theme “Summer Sundress with Hats” at Borneo White House in Damai, here, recently.
Koh, a self-taught cake-maker, said the afternoon was filled with laughter, excitement and sweet indulgence as participants sampled a wide variety of cakes while celebrating friendship, creativity and fellowship.
She said each participant brought either a homemade or store-bought cake, which was cut into eight slices for a cake exchange, making the occasion a memorable new experience for everyone.
“The Swepa cake picnic has created closer bonding and forged connections among leaders and members through a fun-filled celebration and a shared vision of unity,” Epin said.
She added that the association might consider Koh’s suggestion of making the Cake Picnic an annual tradition.
Meanwhile, Past President Datuk Adeline Leong won the Most Alluring Lady title, while current Vice-President Suryani Mohd Saidi received the Most Creative Lady award.
Suryani also emerged winner of the “Guess the Weight of the Durian Cake” competition.
Also present were Past Presidents Datuk Nancy Ho, Doris Lim, Lai Fui Nar and Karen Wong.
