KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew presented contributions totalling RM10,000 to three organisations at the Breaking of Fast event held by The Board of Trustees of Sabah Parks (LPATTS) at the Pacific Sutera Hotel here, Tuesday.
The beneficiaries were Pusat Anak Yatim & Fakir Miskin A1 Ain, Keningau (RM5000), Maahad A1 Tahfiz Bayu Syahadah, Kg Bitoon, Ranau (RM2500), and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rahmah (Rahmah-C), Kota Marudu (RM2500).
On hand to receive the mock cheques were their representatives, Chairman Haji Hisammuddin Haji Sulaiman, Chairman Nazrey Johani, and Deputy Chairman Aminula Karim, respectively.
“The fasting month is a time for charity work in aid of underprivileged children and welfare-related non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” Liew said.
LPATTS Director Dr Maklarin Lakim said Ranau, Kota Marudu and Keningau were chosen for the Board’s social responsibility programme on this occasion, given that the areas in these districts constitute the UNESCO Mt Kinabalu World Heritage Site, UNESCO Kinabalu Global Geopark, and the UNESCO-recognised Crocker Range Biosphere Reserve (in the interior), making Sabah the holder of the UNESCO Triple Crown status.
Among those who witnessed the presentation ceremony were the Permanent Secretary to the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry Josie Lai Mei Sing, LPATTS Chairman Peter Lintar, Sabah Environmental Trust CEO Dr Hj Rahimatsah, Sabapak Eco Sdn Bhd CEO Remysta Taylor, and LPATTS Organisation & Human Resource Development Committee Member, Datuk William Baya.
Also present were members of the LPATTS Board of Directors, Robert Penggai, Wong Su Vui and Ramlan Naim.
