KOTA KINABALU: State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun urged all staff of his Ministry and its agencies to continue practising the highest level of integrity.
He said it is crucial for his Ministry and its agencies to be exemplary when it comes to integrity and good work ethics, as the Ministry is constantly under public scrutiny.
“When we think about it, we don’t need an Integrity Week because our work and Ministry require the highest levels of integrity all the time. However, it is important for us to be reminded so that we do not veer off on the wrong path.
“Integrity is a choice that reflects the values we hold within ourselves. It’s about deciding to embrace honesty and steer clear of corruption, making a conscious decision towards the right path,” he said at the closing ceremony of his Ministry’s Integrity Week here today.
Masidi emphasised the necessity of practising integrity, not just preaching it, and noted that the Integrity Week serves as a reminder of the pivotal role that their innate conscience plays in upholding integrity on a daily basis.
According to him, his Ministry has shown progress in revenue collection and improvements in procurement and awarding systems, underscoring the collaborative guidance from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“This is a proof that integrity greatly benefits the performance of the Ministry, and working with integrity is the greatest contribution one can make to the state. I urge everyone to consistently choose the path of integrity,” he added.
The Ministry’s Integrity Week started on Aug 14 with several programmes held, including an Integrity Pledge recitation, poster and video competitions, blood donation drives and health and fitness activities to promote integrity not just in the workplace but as a lifestyle.
