KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is expected to officiate the closing ceremony of the 38th National Chinese Cultural Festival (NCCF) to be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICCC) here in October this year.
The 38th NCCF is currently being hosted by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) under the auspices of the Federation of Chinese Associations (Huazong) which are both currently led by Tan Sri T C Goh.
The Chief Minister has agreed to this during the courtesy call by the organising committee, at his office here today. Also in attendance were FCAS Deputy President cum organising chairperson of 38th NCCF, Datuk Susan Wong,, her deputy who is also FCAS Vice President, Kapitan Fung Chun Fatt, FCAS Vice Presidents Datuk Sr Chua Soon Ping, Kapitan Lim Vun Chan, David Chan and Ng Young Wah, its Treasurer-General Chen Ee Sheng, and its Youth Chief Chang Jeng Yung, among others.
As for the invitation to officiate the torch lighting ceremony for the 38th NCCF, for Kota Kinabalu, which will take place on this Sunday (Aug 20), Hajiji explained that he was unable to attend the occasion due to other pre-booked events. He nonetheless promised to send a representative to represent him at the event.
Goh briefed Hajiji that the torch lighting ceremony for the 38th NCCF and the cultural show at its grand closing ceremony are the two key events of FCAS for this year, after the 8th FCAS International Dragon Boat Race, which was successfully organised in the middle of last June.
Meanwhile, Hajiji reiterated that the State Government would provide necessary support and assistance to Huazong and FCAS for the 38th NCCF.
