KOTA KINABALU: The State Government always welcomes foreign investors, especially from the People’s Republic of China, to explore strategic investment opportunities in Sabah to boost economic growth and sustainable development.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said Sabah has great potential across various key sectors including oil and gas, energy, blue economy, tourism, modern agriculture and green technology-related industries.
He said investment cooperation with China is seen as capable of providing mutual benefits, particularly in technology transfer, job creation and the development of local economic chains.
“Sabah always welcomes foreign investors interested in investing in the state because there are many potential economic sectors that can be explored collaboratively and are viable for the long term,” he said.
He said this at the courtesy call by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu Dr Zhu Xinglong, along with his officials, at his office in Menara Kinabalu, here, today.
During the meeting, Hajiji also expressed hope that the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China’s office in Kota Kinabalu could help promote Sabah as a conducive investment destination among the business community and investors from China.
Meanwhile, Dr Zhu briefed the Chief Minister on various programmes and activities carried out by his office in an effort to strengthen diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between Sabah and China.
He also invited Hajiji to attend several official functions organised by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China’s office in Kota Kinabalu next year, as well as extending an official invitation to the Chief Minister to visit several provinces in China to explore broader trade cooperation.
