KIULU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has urged its members to remain focused and not be swayed by politically motivated allegations aimed at discrediting the party’s leadership.
PBS Information Chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said grassroots leaders and members must stay united and committed as Sabah heads towards the state election on November 29.
He said the recent bribery allegations implicating Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam and Deputy President Datuk Seri Jahid Jahim appear to be attempts by certain quarters to create distractions as the election approaches.
“Our Acting President and Deputy President have given their explanation on the matter, and I believe our leaders, members and supporters remain solidly behind the party.
“We consider this (alleged bribery) a politically motivated agenda aimed at weakening the party, and we must not be distracted by it,” he said at a meet-the-people session in Kampung Bambangan Lama here today.
Joniston, who is also the incumbent Kiulu Assemblyman, said PBS continues to uphold the principles of accountability, honesty and transparency in its political journey.
“While certain quarters may try to turn this issue into political ammunition, PBS will continue to focus on what matters most — serving the people and earning their trust,” he said.
He stressed that PBS takes public trust seriously, noting that confidence must be earned through consistent actions that reflect integrity, service and accountability.
Joniston also urged PBS members and supporters to remain united, disciplined and focused as the election draws near, assuring them that the party remains committed to playing a key role in ensuring Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) earns the people’s mandate to continue leading the state.
He added that PBS will continue championing the people’s welfare and ensuring that development and opportunities reach every part of Sabah under the GRS administration.
“We believe the people will judge GRS based on its proven track record, not on the untruths being spread by the opposition.
“Facts and figures don’t lie. Under GRS, Sabah recorded its highest-ever revenue and reserves — clear evidence of responsible management and sound leadership.
“These are verifiable facts that stand on their own merit and can easily be confirmed with the relevant authorities and agencies,” said Joniston, who is also the GRS Information Chief.
