KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (SOGDC) has denied allegations circulating on social media that it directed or appointed sand suppliers for investors and tenants operating at the Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).
In a statement today, SOGDC said it does not dictate, direct or appoint sand suppliers on behalf of investors or tenants in SOGIP, nor does its management determine the appointment of such suppliers.
It said the selection and appointment of suppliers are undertaken independently by the respective investors, tenants and/or their contractors in accordance with their own procurement arrangements and requirements.
“SOGDC’s role, as the developer and landowner of SOGIP, is to facilitate its investors/tenants towards the smooth and orderly implementation of their respective projects,” it said.
In doing so, SOGDC requires all investors, tenants, contractors and parties operating within SOGIP to ensure that all their activities, including the procurement, transportation and supply of sand, are carried out in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and requirements of the relevant authorities.
SOGDC said it does not condone, facilitate or support the procurement or supply of materials from illegal or unauthorised sources.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding compliance, integrity and good governance in the development and operation of SOGIP.
“Accordingly, any allegation or insinuation that SOGDC or its Management has directed or facilitated the appointment of illegal sand suppliers is false, unfounded and malicious, and does not represent the actual role, position or practices of SOGDC,” it said.
SOGDC also reserved all its rights in respect of the publication and circulation of any false or misleading statements concerning the corporation, its management and operations.
