KOTA KINABALU: The Rotary Club of Likas Bay celebrated its 43rd anniversary in grand style on Saturday night, with songs and cultural dance performances culminating in a cake-cutting ceremony.
The two-in-one event also saw the installation of incoming President Anna Clark by her predecessor Aldrin Wong, together with the new Board of Directors for the 2026-2027 term.
Adding significance to the celebration was the presence of a delegation from the club’s sister club, Rotary Club of Lu Chou, Taiwan, led by its President Pharma Dong Hsieh Ming.
Past District Governor Datuk Zainie Abdul Aucasa officiated at the celebration, which also featured the presentation of the Likas Bay Rotary Club’s vocational award to Dr Kathryn Rivai.
The award recognised Rivai’s commitment and dedicated service in providing basic education to children at 14 learning centres throughout Sabah.
In his address, Zainie said the club had been exemplary in upholding its motto, “Service above Self”, by reaching out to communities in need over the past four decades.
“The people are definitely appreciative of what selfless Rotarians have done, which only motivates them to do more and be impactful,” he said.
Also present were past District Governors Datuk Lee Chuen Wan and Philip Chong, together with their spouses Datuk Naomi Chong Set Mui and Madam Yong Len Nyuk, respectively.
The celebration was held at the Hilton Hotel.
