KOTA KINABALU: Api-Api Assemblywoman Datuk Seri Christina Liew yesterday visited flood and landslide victims in her constituency, extending aid and words of encouragement to those affected.
In the early hours of the morning, a landslide occurred off Jalan Bukit Nenas, causing a tree to fall and hit a water tank. The impact sent the tank crashing against the wall of a SMJ house, damaging the building.
Liew met the house owner Crispus Chong Yun Thau and his wife Tsen Swee Len, who recounted the frightening incident. She advised residents in the area to take preventive measures by chopping down trees located too close to their homes.
Earlier in the day, the Api-Api Assemblywoman accompanied Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor during his inspection rounds to assess the flood situation and meet victims temporarily housed at the PPS (Temporary Evacuation Centre) in Kampung Sarapung, Penampang.
Later, she also visited affected residents taking refuge at the PPS in Kampung Inobong, Penampang, accompanied by Sabapak Eco Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Remysta Taylor.
