KOTA KINABALU: KKIP Sdn Bhd will collaborate with SANY Group, the world’s third-largest manufacturer of construction machinery, to set up an advanced Industrialised Building System (IBS) plant in Sabah,
Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe said the collaboration aims to raise the quality of construction significantly because advanced IBS technology and equipment will significantly enhance efficiency in construction, saving time, reducing costs and decreasing reliance on labour.
“Most importantly, it will enable the public to afford more affordable housing,” he said in a statement today after his visit to Changsha, China, where he visited four factories and an engineering institute under the SANY Group.
According to Phoong, during the visit, he had productive discussions with the Rotating Chairman of SANY Group, Tang Xiuguo, focusing on collaboration to introduce the advanced IBS technology to Sabah.
They also exchanged ideas on topics such as renewable energy, sustainable development and Industry Revolution 4.0.
Phoong said Tang also shared that SANY Group has been collaborating with several companies in Peninsular Malaysia and had established discussions with Malaysian Local Government Development Nga Kor Ming earlier this year. SANY Group plans to continue collaborating with PR1MA Corporation to build more affordable homes across Malaysia.
Tang also said that Malaysia is the first country where the SANY Group initiated overseas collaboration on IBS.and he expressed optimism about the success of the project in Sabah, acknowledging Sabah’s potential and opportunities.

During his visit to Changsha, Phoong visited four factories including SANY Group’s latest prime mover production line, the Miluo precast factory, the No.18 lighthouse factory and a factory producing solar panels.
He also visited SANY Group’s specialised engineering institute.
Phoong said SANY Group is a Fortune Global 500 company which has contributed to significant projects worldwide, including the construction of the tallest building, Burj Khalifa, the longest bridges and tunnels.
Moreover, SANY Group’s pure electric heavy trucks have become the best-selling electric heavy vehicles in China, highlighting the future trend towards electric vehicles, said Phoong who stressed the importance of developing the electric vehicles sector.
Phoong said SANY’s No.18 lighthouse factory was recognised as the “most advanced factory in the world” by the World Economic Forum and McKinsey, signifying its advanced, intelligent, and innovative manufacturing processes.
“SANY Group is also actively promoting the manufacturing of renewable energy units, particularly for wind energy generators, making them one of China’s largest manufacturers in this sector,” he said.
He also shared with SANY on Sabah’s active initiatives in green and renewable energy development.
Phoong said the collaboration with SANY Group on the advanced IBS factory marked the beginning of their partnership, as both parties look forward to deepening their cooperation.
He also welcomed SANY Group to invest in Sabah and introduce other advanced industrial technologies, fostering mutually beneficial and win-win development.
Phoong departed for Shanghai today, he had a business networking breakfast with entrepreneurs before returning to Kota Kinabalu in the evening.
