TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the four State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituencies in Tuaran receive the same development benefits as other areas in Sabah.
He said that as the Chief Minister from Tuaran, it was his responsibility to develop not only the area he represents in the Sulaman constituency, but also to ensure that Pantai Dalit, Tamparuli and Kiulu constituencies continue to progress.
He said he was constantly looking for ways to assist the people in the district and bring the necessary development, in line with Tuaran’s position as the home district of the current Chief Minister.
“So I am always looking for ways to help ensure that the Tuaran areas, particularly Sulaman and Pantai Dalit, as well as Tamparuli and Kiulu, continue to develop and progress.
“If possible, we want Tuaran district to be more developed or on par with other districts throughout Sabah, especially as this is the Chief Minister’s area,” he said.
Hajiji said this when officiating the Presentation of Appointment Letters to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairmen for the Sulaman and Pantai Dalit constituencies for the 2026-2030 term, as well as the presentation of cash assistance to roadside traders and hawkers for 2026 at Dewan Seri Sulaman here today.
At the event, 48 JKKK chairmen from the Sulaman constituency and 45 JKKK chairmen from the Pantai Dalit constituency received their appointment letters for the 2026-2030 service term.
The event also saw the presentation of RM3,000 in cash assistance to 200 roadside traders and hawkers under the Sentuhan Kasih Hajiji allocation for 2026.
The Chief Minister said the initiative was also a gesture of appreciation for the continued support from the people of Sulaman, who had supported him throughout the 36 years he had represented Sulaman, including five years as Chief Minister.
He said he had done his utmost to bring facilities to the people of Tuaran, particularly in Sulaman and Pantai Dalit, which were previously part of the Sulaman constituency, including village roads and economic activities for the benefit of the people.
On the RM3,000 cash assistance under his Sentuhan Kasih programme, Hajiji said the contribution was aimed at easing the cost burden faced by small traders in Sulaman and Pantai Dalit in generating income for their families.
“This is cash assistance from my Sentuhan Kasih programme. Every year there is assistance for these small traders because I care. So this year I am giving RM3,000 to 200 people in Sulaman and Pantai Dalit.
“This programme is part of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) direction, which is to ensure the well-being of the people, and this is one of the foundations that we need to implement,” he said.
Earlier, he reminded the JKKK chairmen to carry out their entrusted responsibilities as the eyes and ears connecting the people with the Government, including efforts to unite the people at grassroots level.
He said the JKKK’s role was not only to implement projects, but also to unite the people in their respective villages.
“The bigger task is not merely to implement projects, but there are many other activities that can raise awareness among the people and bring about progress. For example, working together with the people through gotong-royong activities in the villages. This can be carried out as it can strengthen ties among us.
“It is not merely about applying for projects and so on, but about the basic matters of strengthening ties, family relationships in the villages, organising gotong-royong activities and holding regular meetings not only with the committee members, but also with the villagers in creating a united community,” he said.
