KOTA KINABALU: While many graduates wait for job opportunities, a group of five enterprising young Sabahans, led by law graduate Jordan Olisih, chose instead to create their own.
Their answer is TEM13US, a newly opened speakeasy bar at YLY Plaza, Tuaran By-Pass, reflecting their entrepreneurial spirit and determination to carve out a future in the highly competitive food and beverage industry.
“We are not doing this just for ourselves. We also want to create opportunities for our peers by providing jobs for them,” said Jordan, 26, who holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Taylor’s University.
Jordan admitted that setting up TEM13US (pronounced Tembus) was challenging, but said the team was prepared to take the risk.
“You would never know until you try it,” he said.
TEM13US currently employs eight staff members, all in their 20s, underscoring the founders’ commitment to empowering fellow youths through employment.
Jordan also expressed appreciation for the strong support from their former La Sallian classmates, many of whom have since secured jobs and are now regular patrons of the establishment.
“We are grateful for their continued support. It has meant a lot to us as we embark on this journey,” he said.
