KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has approved the appointment of Datuk Zainudin Aman as the new Sabah State Secretary, effective June 29, 2026.
Zainudin, who is also the Director-General of the Sabah State Public Service, will succeed Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong, whose tenure as State Secretary ends on June 28, 2026.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said the appointment is expected to further strengthen the Sabah State Public Service and ensure it remains progressive and competitive in driving the state’s administrative transformation towards continuous improvement and excellence.

He said the move would also help ensure the effective implementation of government policies for the benefit and prosperity of both the people and the state.
Hajiji also conveyed the State Government’s sincere appreciation and gratitude to Safar for his outstanding service, dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout his tenure as State Secretary since 2019.
Meanwhile, Safar has been appointed Chairman of Tanjung Aru Eco Development Sdn Bhd (TAED), a government-linked company (GLC) under the Chief Minister’s Department, effective June 1, 2026.
