KOTA KINABALU: Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun gave his assurance to more than 500 students at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) that the State Government is fully committed to addressing youth concerns, particularly in education, welfare and employment.
Speaking at the “Destinasi SMJ Anak Muda 2.0” forum today, Masidi said the voices of students matter and will not be ignored.
“We hear you. The Government is taking your concerns seriously – whether it’s water supply issues at UMS, quality education, or future job prospects. These are not empty promises. We are working towards real, meaningful solutions,” he said.
The dialogue, held at UMS and organised by Institut Kerjasama Kerajaan dan Rakyat (IKRAR), Chief Minister’s Department, was designed to bridge communication between the youth and the State leadership.
Moderated by IKRAR Director Azrul Ibrahim, the session covered a range of topics including economic development, student welfare and Sabah’s employment landscape.
Masidi praised the students for their energy and insight, noting that Sabah’s future is secure in the hands of such engaged youth.
“You are not just the leaders of tomorrow – you are making a difference today,” he told the students.
He also urged them to stay informed and take part in shaping Sabah’s development.
The session received positive feedback, with many students expressing appreciation for the chance to engage directly with a senior Cabinet minister.
