KOTA KINABALU: The much-anticipated 10th Sabah FCAS International Dragon Boat Race 202Sunset Beach Party to kick off 10th Sabah FCAS International Dragon Boat Race will kick off with a vibrant Sunset Beach Party at Likas Bay on May 16, serving as a prelude to the main event scheduled to begin the following day.
Organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), led by its President Tan Sri T C Goh, the dragon boat race promises an exciting weekend of cultural celebration, sporting excellence, and international camaraderie.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew has been invited to grace the welcoming beach event.
Speaking ahead of the race, Liew expressed hope that this year’s competition — which features 11 racing categories — will see increased participation from international teams compared to last year.
She noted that the decision to move the event forward from June to May was made to align with the month-long Pesta Kaamatan celebration, enhancing its cultural significance and drawing more festive crowds.
Head of State Tun Musa Aman is expected to officiate the final race on May 18, marking a grand conclusion to the prestigious water sport event, which has grown into one of Sabah’s premier tourism highlights.
