LAHAD DATU: POIC Sabah is equally concerned about the severely damaged Jalan Kilang, which is a main access road to its POIC Lahad Datu industrial park and port.
In response to a newspaper report pointing to the state of disrepair of the stretch of road, the company said the stretch is located outside the industrial park’s boundary and its upkeep comes under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department.
The newspaper report, quoting a spokesman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, could be misconstrued the road as one under POIC Sabah and infer that it has overlooked its responsibility in maintaining its usability.
‘The condition of this road has hampered smooth transportation of the employees working within the industrial park and our operation, a POIC statement said.
“We are in communication with the departments concerned on the repair.”
