Phoong accompanying Tengku Zafrul to Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park for a visit to SK Nexilis Malaysia Sdn Bhd and SBH Kibing Solar New Materials today.
KOTA KINABALU: Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe said the joint efforts between the Federal and State Governments are critical to the mission of industrialising Sabah.
“We have witnessed significant successes with companies such as Kibing Group and SK Nexilis Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which have created numerous decent job opportunities and are successfully exporting their products.
“These achievements highlight the effectiveness of the State Government’s
initiatives, including the State Manufacturing Investment Task Force, which was set up to facilitate both foreign and domestic manufacturing investments,” he said.
He also noted that the Kibing Group’s second phase of investment, valued at RM7 billion and formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 11, exemplifies the substantial opportunities available in Sabah.
“This project requires robust support from the Federal Government to ensure its success and to further stimulate economic growth in our state,” he said.
He said this after accompanying Federal Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, to Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park for a visit to SK Nexilis Malaysia Sdn Bhd and SBH Kibing Solar New Materials today
Phoong emphasised that the visit underscores the Federal Government’s strong commitment to bringing investment to Sabah and strengthening investor confidence in the region.
He said Sabah recorded a 4.4 per cent GDP growth in the manufacturing sector last year, the highest in Malaysia in 2023.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our local and foreign industries, supported by effective policies and initiatives. We must continue to work hard to industrialise Sabah.
“It is imperative for Sabah to continue receiving strong support from the Federal Government, particularly in promoting our state as an investor-friendly destination for green industry and the blue economy. These sectors are crucial for sustainable development and for positioning Sabah as an investment hub,” he said.
