KOTA KINABALU: Seventeen officers and staff members of the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry (KePKAS) and its six departments/agencies, who are in need of help, received contributions from the Ministry at the Breaking of Fast hosted by KePKAS Minister Datuk Christina Liew at the Pacific Sutera Hotel, here, yesterday.
The departments and agencies are Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Sabah Parks, Sabah Museum Department, Sabah Wildlife Department (JHL), Environment Protection Department (JPAS), and Sabah Cultural Board (LKNS).
On hand to receive the contributions from the Minister were heads of the respective departments/agencies. They were Chairman of STB Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Director of Sabah Parks Dr Maklarin Lakim, Director of Sabah Museum Arif Abdul Hamid, Deputy Director II of JHL Mohd Soffian Abu Bakar, Director of JPAS Vitalis Moduying, and General Manager of LKNS Mackey Apison.
Among those who witnessed the presentation ceremony were the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Josie Lai Mei Sing,
Deputy Permanent Secretary I Mary Malangking and Deputy Permanent Secretary II Alesia Sion.
“Charity begins at home, but should not end there, as the saying goes. That is why we have also extended our care to several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at a similar event earlier,” Liew said.
The Minister also presented letters of appointment to her Assistant Bangkuai as Chairman of STB and to the President of Malaysia Tourism Federation Datuk Tan Kok Liang as Deputy Chairman of STB. Other recipients included Peter Lintar (Chairman of The Board of Trustees of Sabah Parks), Dikin Hj Musah (Chairman of Sabah Cultural Board), and Stanis Buandih (Deputy Chairman of Sabah Cultural Board).
Also present were STB Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tay Shu Lan who represented the CEO Julinus Jeffery Jimit, CEO of Sri Pelancongan Sabah Thonny Chee, and CEO of Sabapak Eco Remysta Taylor.
