KOTA KINABALU: The State Government places high emphasis on economic growth and the development of a robust food supply chain in Sabah as reflected in the 2024 Sabah Budget, said Assistant Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy.
According to him, a total of RM553.07 million in this year’s State Budget is allocated to assist farmers in increasing food output and encourage them to explore downstream production to diversify their income.
He said one of the key objectives of his Ministry is to empower such food industry entrepreneurs to produce quality local products that can penetrate overseas markets.
“Last year, our Ministry allocated RM15 million to help Sabah’s food industry entrepreneurs increase the marketability of their products in the international market through various channels, including fairs and exhibitions.
“This initiative reflects a significant commitment to promoting the growth and development of the food and beverage industry in Sabah, and ultimately form a sustainable food supply chain that is resilient against external disruptions,” he said when launching the Food and Drinks Malaysia (FDM2024) Penang Roadshow organised by Comexposium at the Marriott Kota Kinabalu Hotel here today.
Andi also commended all the industry professionals, FDM2024 exhibitors and associations for their dedication and commitment to the advancement of the state’s food and beverage industry.
“Your hard work and creativity are instrumental in driving progress and prosperity for Sabah,” he said, encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity to network, learn and collaborate.
“Let us work together to build a vibrant and resilient food and beverage ecosystem that benefits our communities and future generations,” said Andi.
He also thanked the organizers, sponsors and participants for their contributions to making this event a success.
