Radin Malleh
KOTA KINABALU: Former Deputy President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Datuk Seri Radin Malleh shared the decision of the PBS Supreme Councils which had its meeting yesterday to retain PBS President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili until his tenure ends in 2025.
Radin was glad that Dr Maximus has accepted it to steer the party to face future challenges bearing in the uncertainties of politics nowadays.
The former Sabah Rural Development Minister said Dr Maximus’ leadership is still very much needed by PBS, its members and supporters especially in facing the next state election which is only about two years away from now.
“I recalled that in 1994 when PBS was deserted by most of its senior leaders, it was Datuk Seri Dr Maximus the prime mover to activate and revitalise PBS from the branches level up to the Supreme Council guided by Tan Sri Pairin Kitingan.
“It was not long PBS had ‘recover from such trauma’.
“Thank you Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili for your service and struggle for PBS,” said Radin in a statement today.
He said PBS has a good track record and has governed the state by itself for nine years but for the interference of outsiders who were not only wanting to rule but to dominate the state.
PBS is a suitable and relevant party for Sabah because of its multiracial and multireligious concept and struggle for the rights and inetersts of Sabah from the start with its logo and flag of being map of Sabah and handshake symbolises the good relationships of Sabahans within the square and equal social framework which is in tandem (consonant) with the real situation in Sabah, added Radin.
“So, it is only incumbent and pertinent for PBS members and supporters and the people at large to continue rallying behind the party while at the same time looking for a suitable and right candidate to replace Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili in the near future,” said Radin.
