KOTA KINABALU: The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia (CILTM) Sabah Section paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister III cum Works Minister Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya at his office in Sembulan recently to introduce the roles of CILTM Sabah Section and discuss current logistics and transport issues.
CILTM Sabah Section Chairperson Dr Oh Ei Sun said the visit also reaffirmed CILTM’s commitment to contribute to the communities’ current logistics and transport issues.
He said CILTM Sabah Section as a professional body want to help improve the logistics industry in Sabah because the development of the logistics infrastructure in the State, particularly the transportation network, will help improve the efficiency of the movement of goods and services.
Road, air and sea transportation infrastructure investments will also help connect Sabah with other regions and countries, he said, adding industry associations and councils, such as CILTM, play a crucial role in promoting and developing the logistics industry in Sabah and thus supporting these organisations through membership, collaboration and sponsorship can help improve the logistics industry in the state.
“CILTM Sabah Section believes the initiatives from all parties involved will help to improve the logistics industry, promote economic growth and development, and enhance the competitiveness of Sabah’s businesses.
Dr Oh and the delegation thanked the Minister for inviting CILTM Sabah Section to participate in the Sabah Transport Masterplan task force and expressed its desire to be closely affiliated with the Ministry.
Shahelmey commended CILTM Sabah Section for their impressive initiatives thus far and looked forward to working even more closely with the professional body.
