KOTA KINABALU: The University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and Maritime Strategic Association of Malaysia (MASTRA) have expressed their interest to work together to prepare more skilled manpower in the maritime sector in Sabah.
UCSF Vice Chancellor Dr Rafiq Idris, who disclosed this, said this is part of UCSF’s earlier effort to support and complement the need of the maritime sector together with other stakeholders.
He said UCSF will try to complement some of the needs of Sabah’s Blue Economy by working with relevant stakeholders who have the competency and expertise in the maritime sector.
A MASTRA delegation led by First Admiral (Ret) Dato’ Ir. Haji Ahmad Murad, the President of MASTRA, paid a courtesy visit to the UCSF campus in Sembulan here today.
Accompanying him were Dato’ Ir. Wan Othman Wan Othman, Captain Norfaizal and Mohd Nasruddin Yaakub.
They were received by UCSF Board of Ditectors Chairman Datuk Mohd Yaakub Haji Johari and Dr Rafiq.
In the visit, several potential areas of collaboration were discussed involving the need in maritime sector and the Blue Economy in Sabah.
