KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Api-Api has expressed full support for the Sabah Government’s decision to oppose the Federal Government’s application for a stay of execution of the High Court ruling concerning Sabah’s entitlement to a 40 per cent share of net Federal revenue collected from the state for the “Lost Years”.
Its Information Chief Yee Tsai Yiew said the statement by Sabah State Attorney-General Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh reflects the State Government’s consistent position in pursuing and defending Sabah’s constitutional rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
She noted that the High Court had clearly directed both the Federal and State Governments to engage in consultations to implement the 40 per cent special grant entitlement within the court-mandated timeframe.
“Sabah’s willingness to engage constructively while firmly defending its constitutional position demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to resolving the matter in accordance with the rule of law and the Federal Constitution,” she said.
Yee stressed that all parties should respect the High Court’s decision and work within the constitutional and legal framework to reach a fair resolution.
She added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the State Government has continued to safeguard Sabah’s rights through dialogue, consultation and lawful processes.
“The implementation of the 40 per cent revenue entitlement would uphold the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 while strengthening Federal–State relations and restoring confidence among the people of Sabah,” she said.
Yee also called on all parties to support the State Government’s efforts and expressed confidence that continued engagement and cooperation would lead to a fair and mutually acceptable solution within the stipulated timeframe.
“Sabah’s rights must be safeguarded and justice for the state should not be further delayed,” she said.
