KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister II and Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam has lauded The V by Jesselton project as a landmark development that will elevate Kota Kinabalu’s position as a vibrant, world-class waterfront city.
He congratulated Jesselton International and Yayasan Sabah for their strategic partnership in bringing the project to life, describing it as “a model of public-private collaboration that merges resources, expertise, and shared vision for Sabah’s progress.”
“This project is more than just another property development. It represents a forward-looking vision for Kota Kinabalu — an iconic mixed-use destination that will blend commercial, retail, and lifestyle spaces under one integrated concept,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony here today.

Dr Joachim said the development will not only enhance the city’s urban landscape but also generate employment and attract new investments, contributing directly to the State Government’s goal of building a progressive and globally competitive Sabah under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya vision.
“Projects like this play a vital role in positioning Kota Kinabalu as an internationally recognised waterfront city. They stimulate economic growth and create opportunities that benefit both residents and visitors alike,” he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister also commended Jesselton International’s commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, saying sustainable practices must now be at the core of modern urban development.
“In today’s world, progress must go beyond bricks and mortar. It must embody responsibility, inclusivity, and sustainability. I am pleased that The V by Jesselton reflects these values through its design philosophy and green integration,” he said.
Dr Joachim reaffirmed that his Ministry fully supports responsible and innovative projects that align with the state’s development agenda, emphasising that collaboration between Government and reputable developers is essential to ensure growth that benefits all levels of society.
“By working hand-in-hand with trusted partners like Jesselton International and Yayasan Sabah, we can create developments that not only transform our skyline but also uplift communities,” he said.
Dr Joachim expressed confidence that The V by Jesselton will set a new benchmark for sustainable and visionary development in Sabah.
“May this groundbreaking ceremony mark not only the start of construction, but also the beginning of a legacy that future generations will be proud of,” he said.
