SANDAKAN: Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry (MIDE), through the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR), has officially launched IKS Mart Sandakan—the 13th outlet in Sabah dedicated to promoting local products and supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the state.
More than just a retail space, Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe who officiated the launch said IKS Mart Sandakan offers a dynamic experience that blends commerce with leisure.
In addition to showcasing Sabah’s homegrown products, the store features a restaurant serving local delicacies, a campsite for outdoor enthusiasts, and an exclusive coffee brand highlighting Sabah’s locally produced coffee.

Strategically located in the heart of Skate Park Sandakan, he said this initiative aims to engage the younger generation, making local products more accessible and appealing.
By integrating retail, dining and recreation in one vibrant hub, IKS Mart Sandakan supports local entrepreneurs while fostering a deeper appreciation for Sabah’s unique offerings.
“I am committed to driving economic growth in Sandakan. Beyond attracting investments, my priority is to empower local entrepreneurs by providing them with the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed. This, in turn, creates jobs and contributes to the overall prosperity of Sandakan,” said Phoong.
As part of the launch, the Minister presented packaging assistance grants to six Sandakan-based entrepreneurs under the TRUS-MIDE 2024 programme, an initiative designed to enhance product packaging and boost competitiveness.
He reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to championing local businesses through initiatives like IKS Mart, which drive growth, innovation and expanded market access for Sabah’s SMEs.
