PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) can now take in university and college undergraduates as a member after its 38th Annual Delegates Conference on Sunday passed a motion to delete a provision in the party’s constitution.
Deletion of the provision that barred university and college undergraduates from joining the party in line with the amendment on the Universities and University College Act 1971 (Akta Universiti dan Kolej Universiti 1971 – AUKU) which gives freedom to students on several matters, is one of the four motions debated and unanimously passed by 710 delegates who attended the delegates conference.
They also passed the motion to replace the Annual Delegates Conference to Triennial Delegates Conference, meaning the conference will now be held once every three years.

Also passed the motion to insert an article to incorporate and formalise the structure of the Premier Advisory Council into the Party Constitution. The Premier Advisory Council was set up on Nov 12, 2018.
The fourth motion passed was incorporating the Pergerakan Belia dan Beliawanis or Belia (BM) / Beliawanis Wing (English) into the party’s constitution. It was originally introduced as a movement on Nov 15, 2019 in response to the Government’s decision to lower the voting age from 21 to 18.
