KOTA KINABALU: A total of 21 countries have so far confirmed their participation in the Sabah International Expo 2023 (SIE2023) and the Sabah International Business Luncheon Talk 2023 (SIBLT2023) to be held here on Sept 21–24.
The countries are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Thailand, Vietnam and Zimbabwe, besides Malaysia.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor was briefed about this by Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Pho ong Jin Zhe, who is also the Main Organising Chairman of SIE2023 during a courtesy call at Menara Kinabalu here today.
Phoong was joined by his Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datuk Thomas Logijin, Deputy Organizing Chairmen – Datuk Lee Swi Heng (MICCI Sabah Chairman); and Richard Lim (FSI President).
According to Phoong, there will be 344 booths in the exposition.
“SIE2023 received overwhelming response, and the Organising Committee is anticipating more than 30,000 trade visitors and general public throughout the four-day exhibition.
“The SIE team hopes to bring in not only visitors to Sabah, but also potential investors,” he said.
Besides the Expo and Luncheon Talk, another highlights will be the Welcoming Dinner to be hosted by the Sabah Government on Sept 21,expected to be attendex by 1,000 guests consisting of government officials, VIPs, diplomats, head of delegations and exhibitors.
He also expressed the Committee’s gratitude to the Chief Minister for kindly accepted to be the Guest of Honour. Hajiji will also officiate the Grand Launch of the SIE2023.
Since this is the first time for SIE to be held at SICC, the Committee hoped to alleviate the standard of the SIE.
Phoong looks forward to a very successful SIE, as it encourage greater economic and industrial development into the. state.
He invite all SMEs and businesses to take advantage of SIE2023, to network and look for
opportunities with the international exhibitors and trade visitors.
Started since 2000, SIE2023 will be the 10th edition of SIE. It is a Sabah’s Premier Trade Fair event held biennially and jointly organised between the Sabah Government, the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce (MICCI) Sabah Branch and the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) and endorsed by MATRADE. It is also the largest exposition and signature event in the BIMP-EAGA (Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines – East ASEAN Growth Area).
