KOTA KINABALU: Chinese Consul-General in Kota Kinabalu, Huang Shifang paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan here yesterday.
The two parties held extensive and in-depth discussions on cultural exchanges, future cooperation, as well as the cultural and economic development of Sabah.
During the meeting, Huang emphasised the deep friendship and longstanding cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia.
She said China and Malaysia have a rich history and cultural traditions, with abundant resources and talents in fields such as art, music, dance and literature.
She hopes that by strengthening cultural exchanges, further understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries could be fostered, and bilateral cooperation could be promoted.
Huang was accompanied by Consul Zhou Wei during the visit.
Pairin warmly welcomed Huang’s visit and appreciated China’s outstanding achievements in the field of culture.
He pointed out that KDCA is committed to promoting the cultural development of Sabah and cultural exchanges with China hold significant importance.
He hoped that through cooperation with China, Sabah could absorb the essence of Chinese culture and promote the prosperity and innovation of local culture.
Both parties expressed that the meeting was fruitful and they also explored the possibilities of broader cooperation in the fields of education, tourism and economy, as well as sharing experiences and resources.
