KOTA KINABALU: Sabahan youths play a crucial part to bring economic growth to Sabah, said Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe.
He encouraged the graduates to pursue higher studies and return to Sabah upon graduation to develop Sabah together.
”As a Minister in this unity government, I am committed to creating more decent-paying jobs in Sabah, especially in the industrial sector. It is time for Sabahans to return to Sabah to develop Sabah together,” he said when officiating at the Maktab Sabah’s Aspiration Graduation Ceremony for Form 5 students at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here yesterday.
The Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry have secured investments from several international companies such as Kibing Solar, SK Nexilis and E-Steel which are now offering lucrative job opportunities to local fresh graduates.
Last month, 37 young engineers from Sabah were sent to South Korea for high-skill training and they will return to Sabah to work after three months. Recently, another batch of 30 local Sabahans was sent to China mainland to receive training at Kibing.
Phoong said the Sabah Government is committed to developing Sabah and urged more young Sabahans to return to serve the state as well as develop Sabah to become an economic powerhouse in the future.
He is also committed to attracting more high-impact investments during his tenure to create more job opportunities for Sabahan youths.
