TAWAU: Parti Warisan (Warisan) President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal should review his party’s leadership issue internally and not shift the blame to other parties.
Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Tawau Chief Thien Ee Hang said it is irresponsible and arrogant for alleging the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and other parties for “buying over” Warisan’s representatives.
“If according to Mohd Shafie’s logic, did he offer high roles or luxurious offerings to Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Justin Wong and Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong when they betrayed DAP and joined Warisan?
“Warisan then did not condemn or reject these representatives from joining them, as they even mobilised the whole party to whitewash the betrayal of these two assemblymen.
“Why only advocate for Anti-Hopping Law now? Is it because Mohd Shafie had a taste of his own medicine now?
“When DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) was advocating for the Anti-Hopping Law through the MoU with former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Warisan then relentlessly attacked and slandered DAP, so it is very surprising that they are now supporting the Anti-Hopping Law out of the blue,” he said in a statement today in response to Mohd Shafie’s recent speech in Parliament.
Thien reiterated that DAP and PH Sabah is very consistent when it comes to rejecting political frogs and bringing reform agendas such as the Anti-Hopping Law.
“It has also been proven by Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun yesterday that the Unity Government led by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah will table the Anti-Hopping Law in March. This proves that the new government with the participation of PH Sabah is based on reform principles and agendas,” he said.
He said if Mohd Shafie has proof that his party’s representatives was “bought over”, he should do as what Tawau Member of Parliament Lo Su Fui asked him that is to lodge an official report to the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“I agree with the suggestion and urge Warisan to not continue and play the victim card in the Parliament if they have solid proof,” said Thien
He also urged the Opposition to stop playing political games and attempt to destabilise the government, as the state we is at a crucial moment to recover the economy amid this post-pandemic era.
“We should focus in restoring confidence to the people and society. Stop all forms of political tussles that only results in personal gains for certain political leaders,” he said.
