KOTA KINABALU: Tuaran will host the launch of this year’s Kaamatan Festival.
This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister I and Chairman of the Sabah State level Kaamatan Festival Celebration Main Committee Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan during its first meeting held at Wisma Pertanian multipurpose hall here today.
The meeting also saw two other districts, Ranau and Sandakan shortlisted as event venues.
The month-long festival which takes place in May every year is traditionally celebrated by the indigenous community in Sabah, especially the Kadazandusun. However, it is also celebrated by all communities regardless of religions and races.
The month-long celebration culminated on May 30 and 31 at Hongkod Koisaan hall of the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA), Penampang.
