PENAMPANG: The Basel Christian Church of Malaysia, Donggongon, successfully collected 99 pints of blood during a donation campaign held at ITCC Shopping Mall here on Saturday, in support of the Kudat District Hospital blood bank.
The campaign drew encouraging participation from the public, with a total of 128 individuals registering to donate blood.
However, Organising Chairman Kenny Yong Kui Kiong said only 99 donors met the standard health requirements to proceed with the donation.
“Despite that, we are grateful for the overwhelming response and willingness of the public to come forward and support this noble cause,” he said.
Yong expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the campaign, including sponsors, church members, public members and the medical team from Kudat Hospital.
He also noted that the ITCC Shopping Mall management supported the initiative by sponsoring the venue.
As a token of appreciation, each successful donor received a 5kg bag of rice along with a goodies bag containing dried food products, packet drinks and snacks.
Among those present to assist during the campaign were Kudat Hospital Medical Assistant Firdaus Mapaas, Public Relations Officer Syarqawi Rambli, as well as staff nurses Rosnih Rahim and Fazariah Ruhili.
Also in attendance were Chairman of the Basel Christian Church of Malaysia, Donggongon, Lee Yun Siong, Pastor-in-Charge Datuk Dr Rev Voo Thien Fui, the church’s Welfare Minister Kendy Shim and ITCC Executive Assistant Donald Stephen Malinggang II, who represented the shopping mall’s management.
