KOTA KINABALU: The United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) hosted the 2025 International Women’s Day and Thanksgiving Dinner, a grand celebration recognising the contributions and achievements of women in society.
The event was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister II’s wife Datin Seri Linda Ewit, representing Chief Minister’s wife Datin Seri Hajah Juliah Salag. Also in attendance were distinguished guests, including Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew and Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe.
USCCAKK President Datuk Susan Wong warmly welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of empowering women.

She emphasised that women today possess the strength and capability to achieve excellence in their careers, and the annual celebration aims to inspire them to reach greater heights.
“In celebrating Women’s Day, we provide a platform for women to showcase their confidence and charm,” said Wong.
A key highlight of the evening was the Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Awards, which started in 2023 to recognise exceptional women for their career achievements and contributions to society.

This year, six outstanding women were honoured:
- Datuk Eliza Goh – Owner of Zara’s Boutique Hotel, a dedicated entrepreneur passionate about the Chinese community and education.
- Datin Seri Vicky Yee – A renowned lawyer known for her dedication to helping the community.
- Chin Lee Ling – Executive Director of Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd, the company behind the well-known K2 water brand.
- Ts. Sally Chen – Founder of The Best Solution Management Sdn Bhd, specializing in business training and industry impact assessment.
- Angeline Liew – Managing Director of LXY Gems (M) Sdn Bhd, a global supplier of fine gems and pearls.
- Vicky Kang Phui Yie – Executive Director of Colform Group Berhad, a leader in high-standard building solutions.
The award aims to inspire young women to chase their dreams and build successful careers.
Wong also recalled that last year, the Most Outstanding Woman Award was presented to Datuk Seri Christina Liew for her exceptional achievements in both politics and her professional career.
With the theme “Women Make the World Beautiful”, she expressed that while women bring beauty to the world, men also play a crucial role in achieving a perfect balance.
She encouraged collaboration between men and women to drive success.

The evening also served as a thanksgiving dinner to appreciate the community’s continuous support for USCCAKK’s activities, including the 2025 Chinese New Year Dragon, Unicorn & Lion Dance Festival, Cultural Village Exhibition and Children’s Colouring Competition.
Wong extended her heartfelt thanks to Cheng Xiu Hua and the USCCAKK Women’s Committee for their dedication in organising a meaningful and memorable event.
