KOTA KINABALU: National car maker PROTON is now bringing its new generation stylish and dynamic sedan, the Proton S70, with the tagline “Intelligence that Evolves” to East Malaysia, after having successfully launched it in Kuala Lumpur.
The event which took place at the City Mall here was officiated by Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON.
PROTON returns to C-segment sedan market
The Proton S70 marks PROTON’s return to the C-segment sedan market after introducing three SUV models since 2018 with the Proton X70, Proton X50 and Proton X90 respectively.
The brand-new Proton S70’s development involved 260,000 man-hours by PROTON’s R&D engineers, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation and collaboration with Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.
The Proton S70 also underwent rigorous testing, with 1.2 million kilometers covered by PROTON and Geely’s engineers, further reflecting the company’s dedication to delivering a precision-crafted sedan for discerning buyers.
“It has been a remarkable year for PROTON, with many milestones achieved. Now, we are thrilled to officially launch the Proton S70 in this dynamic region. Since we introduced this Segment-C sedan last month, we have received over 3,000 bookings. We saw the positive response from the public and the demand for the cars and we can’t be any more excited for our East Malaysians to own a Proton S70 of their own.

Proton S70 – Intelligence That Evolves
The Proton S70 is available in four variants – Executive, Premium, Flagship and Flagship X. The top two variants are equipped with the “Hi PROTON” voice command, providing features such as online navigation, online music streaming and weather forecasts via a 12.3-inch infotainment head unit.
Additionally, the PROTON Link app allows for remotely starting the engine to cool down the cabin.
Safety is prioritised in Proton S70, which has been awarded a 5-Star safety rating by ASEAN NCAP. The Proton S70 boasts a comprehensive list of safety features, including 6 SRS airbags, and an extensive array of 13 Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features. These encompass both active and cognitive safety systems with notable features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Traffic Sign Information (TSI) and Lane Change Assist (LCA). Monitoring System (TPMS) ensures driver peace of mind and 360 Camera with 3D Display for parking convenience.

The first 3,000 buyers of the Proton S70 who register their vehicles by February 29, 2024 will enjoy additional perks.
Those who opt for the Flagship X variant will receive an aero kit valued at RM3,130, while Premium and Flagship variant customers are eligible for a RM500 service voucher. All buyers will also receive increased PROTON Insurance Program benefits consisting of complimentary 1st Year Special Perils coverage.
The colour options for the Proton S70 are Snow White, Armour Silver, Space Grey, Passion Red, Marine Blue, Quartz Black and the newest addition, Teal Bayou Green which is offered in accordance with the variant chosen.
