KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor received a courtesy call from Canadian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Jodi Robinson, at Menara Kinabalu here today.
Hajiji welcomed Robinson and expressed hope that the good ties between Sabah and Canada could be further strengthened, particularly through exploring opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed Robinson on Sabah’s focus on the Blue Economy, including the potential of the aquaculture sector, which offers opportunities to be explored with investors and strategic partners from Canada.
He also said Sabah has various industrial parks ready to receive foreign investments, including Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), POIC Lahad Datu, Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park, Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) and others.
Hajiji expressed hope that the visit would open up more avenues for cooperation and Canadian investment opportunities in Sabah, thereby contributing to the State’s economic growth and development.
Canada has previously expressed its intention to expand bilateral ties and trade with Malaysia in sectors including agriculture, healthcare, information and communications technology (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and educational exchanges.
