KOTA KINABALU: Braven Rovers Football Club will hold the BRFC Cup Sabah 2026, an 11-a-side amateur football tournament, on Sunday (20 Sept).
The one-day tournament will run from 8am to 4pm at Padang Bola Sepak dan Ragbi A dan B in Kota Kinabalu.
It is open to a maximum of 16 teams and will begin with a group stage before moving into the knockout rounds.
Each team may register up to 18 players.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and final.
The Sabah Football Association (SAFA), in a letter dated Sept 2, 2026, stated that it has no objection to the tournament proceeding at the stated date, time and venue.
The organiser will comply with the requirements in the letter, including the use of SAFA-licensed referees and the provision of security and medical coverage before matches begin.
The tournament offers RM5,500 in total cash prizes. The champions will receive RM3,000, a trophy and medals. The runners-up will receive RM1,500 and medals, while the two losing semi-finalists will receive RM500 each and medals.
The entry fee is RM800 per team. A RM400 deposit is required to confirm a team’s slot.
