KOTA KINABALU: Political Secretary Vivien Lee represented Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew in receiving and sending off the parents and family members of drowned victim Zhang Pang at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA).
Lee extended condolences to the family on behalf of the Minister.
Sabah Parks Director Dr Maklarin Lakim and Tunku Abdul Rahman Park Manager Kenneth Sion, together with Mandarin-speaking staff, accompanied the parents to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Pathology Department.
Yesterday, the family flew back to China with the ashes of the deceased who was cremated last Sunday. Sabah Tourism Board’s Marketing Manager Aboni Loong was present to expedite the process of the family’s homeward journey.
Zhang, aged 25, was with seven others, including a diving instructor, when the incident occurred off Mamutik Island on June 22.
