LABUAN: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Labuan takes cognisance of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Zaliha Mustafa’s announcement over the setting up of a Special Task Force to look into the construction of the proposed Labuan-Menumbok bridge.
Its Division Chief Datuk Peter Mak said that they hope the Special Task Force will not overly emphasise the economic feasibility of having the bridge alone, as there have been similar studies before pointing to its viability.
He was commenting on Zaliha’s reply to Labuan Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman in parliament.
“Apart from economic considerations, the bridge project should be equally treated and assessed as a social obligation by the Government for the people.
“We hope that the Special Task Force created will be inclusive, including obtaining the feedback of the people before coming to a conclusion,” said Mak, who is also PBS Vice President.
He added that such feedback can be obtained through means like town hall sessions with ordinary people and interactive meetings with various interest groups.
PBS Labuan believes that Zaliha will hear the people out on this very important matter.
