Dr Jeffrey Kitingan
KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STARSABAH) President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has categorically denied accusations circulating on social media alleging his involvement in a conspiracy against Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
In an official statement today, Dr Jeffrey who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Deputy Chairman labelled the claims as false, misleading and politically motivated.
The allegations, based on a screenshot allegedly from November 1, 2024, were dismissed by Dr Jeffrey as being taken entirely out of context.
He claimed the accusations were an attempt to create division within GRS and among Sabahans ahead of the upcoming state elections.
“Our STARSABAH party and I have fully supported Datuk Seri Hajiji to be Chief Minister in 2020, and since then, our support has not wavered despite various challenges,” said Dr Jeffrey.
The timing of the allegations, coinciding with an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) into unrelated claims against the State Government, raised suspicions of political maneuvering. Dr Jeffrey expressed confidence that the truth would emerge following the authorities’ investigations.
He reaffirmed his commitment to unity, political stability and the development of Sabah, emphasising that attempts to drive a wedge between leaders working toward a better Sabah will not succeed.
“I call upon the public to be vigilant against misinformation and not to fall victim to malicious narratives intended to destabilise the State Government.
“I will continue to focus on serving the people of Sabah with integrity and transparency.
“Let us move forward together for a stronger, united Sabah,” he urged.
Hajiji is also the GRS Chairman.
