KOTA KINABALU: Vendors at the Kota Kinabalu Central Market are happy with the installation of 300 new tube lights on the ground floor, using the Assemblywoman’s Fund of Api-Api Assemblywoman Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
She said this is the first market in Sabah to use these “healthy” lights which have the power to kill bacteria, according to the manufacturer.
During a site inspection at the market on Wednesday, vendors told Liew that the installation has lit up the environment unlike previously. “Bagus, cukup terang sekarang (Good, bright enough now),” remarked a vegetable vendor identified as Lina. “We are very happy. Before, it was very dark,” said another vendor who introduced herself as Lee.
However, the clothing, bag and shoe vendors as well as food operators on the first floor approached Liew, requesting that the same facility be made available in their area. They also want the guardrails to be repainted.
In response, the Api-Api Assemblywoman said she would look into the need for the “healthy” lights to be installed on the first floor, too.
