KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah Chapter President Datuk Michael Chin Wee Yee has called on all sectors to prioritise unity and work together to protect Sabah’s political stability and economic progress.
“For Sabah to thrive, we need a stable political environment and clear policy direction. Any attempt to create division or disrupt the Government’s efforts will harm investor confidence and impede economic growth,” he said in a statement today.
Chin emphasised that the MCCC Sabah Chapter adheres to principles of fairness, impartiality and non-partisanship.
“We must safeguard the unity we have painstakingly built. Backdoor politics or improper political maneuvers will jeopardise local harmony and deter potential investors,” he warned.
Chin pointed to the recent success of the Malaysia (Sabah)-China Business Summit, organised by the Sabah Government, as a testament to the benefits of political stability in fostering a favorable investment climate.
“This summit not only enhanced Sabah’s international profile but also created significant opportunities for local businesses to grow and develop,” he noted.
He further stressed that as a democratic nation, Malaysia entrusts its elected government with the responsibility of formulating and implementing policies that serve the people and the country.
In this context, Chin urged all sectors to set aside their differences, focus on Sabah’s long-term interests and collaborate to build a more prosperous state.
“Sabah needs a stable and transparent policy environment. We urge all stakeholders to approach issues rationally, respect facts and legal processes, and refrain from spreading rumors or malicious content that could disrupt social order and hinder development,” he appealed.
Chin reiterated the chamber’s commitment to working alongside the State Government to promote economic diversification, foster social harmony and solidify Sabah’s position as a key regional economic hub.
