LABUAN: The Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Labuan will continue to support the construction of the Labuan-Menumbok bridge as an important means of transportation and communication between the Federal Territory and Sabah.
Its Chairman Paul Ipoh Leokin said KCCI Labuan agree with the stand of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Labuan as stated by its Division Head Datuk Peter Mak that the proposed bridge is a much-needed and overdue basic infrastructure for the peoples of Labuan and Sabah.
“We are also happy that the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of the Federal Territories, Dr Zaliha Mustafa has acknowledged that the bridge will be a socio-economic game-changer for Labuan which augurs well for the future prosperity and development of the island.
“KCCI Labuan views the prospect of having the much-awaited bridge as much brighter now, especially with the recent statement by the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof here in Labuan that various methods and approaches will be adopted to bring the bridge into realisation.
“We view the statements by Dr. Zaliha and Datuk Seri Fadillah by far the most sincere and promising on the bridge,” he said in a statement today.
He said KCCI Labuan looks forward with optimism that the Madani Government will continue to listen to the plight of the people of Labuan and address them.
