KOTA KINABALU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) President Tan Sri T C Goh congratulated Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah on his appointment as the seventh Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City.
Goh expressed confidence that Dr Sabin, who was former Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) CEO, with his vast experience in the public sector, would be able to bring the development of Kota Kinabalu City to greater heights.
He especially hopes Dr Sabin could facilitate more professional and proactive collaboration with the State Government and various agencies to advance the Kota Kinabalu 2035 Blueprint and all aspects of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall 2023-2026 Strategic Plan to ensure early achievement and shaping Kota Kinabalu into an advanced city in East Malaysia.
He said Dr Sabin, who previously also held the position of Director-General of the National Anti-Financial Crime Centre in the Prime Minister’s Department and possessed expertise in the economic field, would be able to contribute significantly to Kota Kinabalu’s development.

Goh, who is also a member of the Sabah Economic Advisory Council (SEAC), expressed full support and warm welcome to Dr Sabin on his appointment as the seventh Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City, by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor Tuesday.
Goh, who is also President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) and the Federation of Sabah and Labuan Hokkien Associations (FSLHA), also said Dr Sabin who is the third Kota Kinabalu Mayor from Ranau since the city’s elevation in 2000, is well-positioned to enhance the city’s tax revenue and performance, and to bring greater development benefits to the local residents.
The other two mayors from Ranau were Datuk Abidin Madingkir (the third Mayor of KK), and Datuk Nordin Siman (the fifth Mayor of KK).
Meanwhile, Goh also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Mayor, Datuk Norliza Awang Alip, for her great efforts and contributions to various aspects of development in Sabah, Kota Kinabalu especially. Norliza served as the sixth Mayor and the first female Mayor since January 2021, succeeding her predecessor Datuk Nordin Siman.
Goh acknowledged Norliza’s dedication to improving the city’s development and its people’s wellbeing, and commended her leadership during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, describing her as a leader with experience, capabilities and courage, earning the admiration of citizens from all ethnicities.
